NEW CANNES CHIMERA COMPETITION LAUNCHES TODAY: Cannes Lions Calls on Global Creative Community to Help Recruit Millions of ‘Global Citizens Through Creative Brand Activations’ 28 April 2015 — The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has today launched the fifth Cannes Chimera Competition, an initiative to engage the global creative industry in building public awareness and support for solutions to critical global development problems. This year, the brief for the Cannes Chimera Competition calls for the development of a one-time brand activation that will attract massive public attention to the growing Global Citizen platform, and result in a surge of sign ups to the campaign, through email capture and Facebook.

THE GREATEST BRIEF EVER: YOUR IDEA CAN CHANGE THE WORLD THE PROBLEM More than 1 billion people live in extreme poverty, on less than $1.25 a day. More than 6.5 million children die each year from causes that people in much of the world don’t even think about, like diarrhea, malaria, and tuberculosis. Such levels of poverty and disease cause immense human suffering and contribute to astonishing inequity around the world. Some might say the only response to these problems is despair. In fact, we believe the best response is helping—and determined optimism.
